Vodafone Automotive Telematics is committed to delivering innovative services to vehicle drivers based on telematics applications, ensuring the security and privacy of all the information processed and the high reliability of the IT environment. In order to address data protection standards and system reliability requirements, as well as provide flexibility to respond to growing market needs, Vodafone Automotive migrated its Data Center from Berne, Switzerland, to a location nearby Zurich.
Two important partners have been chosen for the management of the new Data Center: IBM and Green Data Center.
The new Data Center architecture has been entirely designed by Vodafone Automotive Telematics, who will continue to be responsible for the management of all applications. IBM maintains the hardware infrastructure, ensures data storage and security whilst Green Data Center is in charge of the hosting facilities.
The new Data Center is UNI ISO/IEC 27001 certified: this recently created ISO standard specifies the compliance requirements when designing, implementing and managing Information Security Management Systems (ISMS). The Data Center guarantees a Tier III Reliability (99.982% uptime), it is connected to 12 Swiss network carriers and has a redundant power system (3 power supply sources).
